Benita Nancy: Cats and dogs came from different family trees Some people are cat lovers and some dog lovers. There has been 7 species of wolves wiped out in the last 100 years. Most wolves are gone from Europe and from most of the United States, too. People wiped out all the wolves from Yellowstone National Park in the 1920's. Wolves were reintroduced back in the park in 1990. Dogs are definitely the ones that are used for working. Besides what you listed they are used for guide dogs, finding victims in a disaster such as 9/11, tracking lost people or criminals that escaped, police work, war to find enemies and or explosives, detecting seizures, heart attacks and cancer in people. Some kids are highly allergic to certain foods, like peanuts and the dog can detect the peanuts before the kid even enters the room. They can find termites and save home owners lots of money. Dogs are also used for guarding. Dogs are extraordinarily beautiful. Dogs are also smarter than cats ha! nds down. Cats are very difficult to teach basic commands such as sit. Nearly 90% of their brains are taken up by intuition. Leaves little space for the learning of other things. Lions and tigers are probably the most furious animals. 50% of the population of coyotes have decreased in Wyoming since the reintroduction of the wolf. Wolves do not hesitate to kill the coyote. Cats have keen hearing. Dogs have a terrific nose. A dog can smell 1 teaspoon of sugar in 1 million gallons of water-that's 2 olympic size swimming pools. Dogs recognize people by their scent and don't forget a dog can recognize an individual by their scent even after 15 years. The best pet is what ever the individual likes. Some people are cat lovers, some are dog lovers. They are both great animals with different behaviors and needs. Dogs are the most varied animal in the world with 800 breeds world wide. There are 80 breeds of cats. All dogs came from the wolf. Wolves are very social animals living in ! packs. We are social animals. Dogs and humans are very much al! ike in many ways. Man has been living with dogs for 300,000 years. We have a long history together and a bond that is priceless. No 2 species on earth are closer than man and dog. I love all animals, but dogs are my favorite. I live in Wyoming. I love the fact that reintroduced the grey wolf. Have you ever heard the howl of a coyote or wolf in the dead of night? Thrilling!...Show more
