Vegetarian question pleas help.....?

Spencer Heidtbrink: Simple answer is no. Just take prenatal vitamins and make sure you are still getting protein in your diet. I am 23 weeks with my third, and although I am not a full vegetarian, I'm not a huge meat eater. It's caused issues in my pregnancy from lack of protein such as dizziness, fainting, heachaches, ect, but the baby is still healthy. Just a pain for me! Lol. I've found the best trick to add protein is peanut butter.

Toby Women: I was a vegan prior to pregnancy, so it doesn't affect it in a negative way. My doctor did suggest becoming vegetarian during my pregnancy, so sadly I have added cheese and cows milk to my diet. I plan on returning to being vegan after I have the baby. I agree that peanut butter is a good way to add protein once pregnant, as well as adding other nuts. My doctor also commented that of all of his patients he has had over the years, the ones with the healthiest pregnancies and healthiest babies (as well as post birth reco! very) are the vegetarians, so don't worry :) I have only put on 7 pounds, and I'm almost 22 weeks along, so I am on track to only gain about 25 pounds for the whole pregnancy. Don't let people criticize your lifestyle choices because they see them as "strange". I live in a pretty awkward area of the nation, where everyone eats meat and the vegetarians/vegans are seen as hippie, liberal, nutcases rather than as health conscious individuals. My town recently got a health food store (it was set up by some local college students), if that says anything. My family says that I am endangering my child, but at least my husband defends me when we go and see my family, so it makes it easier....Show more
