What are the best Video Game Development/Video Game Programming School's in Texas?

Freeman Rutkin: Most video game companies want you to have majored in either software engineering or computer science, not in "video game design". And this fits well with your associates degree major, and it also gives you some great schools to look at. The best in this field in Texas are U Texas Austin, Texas A&M, and Rice - and all three are elite, really very good. While you study, do an internship in video game design, and if possible, another one in something related, but easier to find a job in, such as interface design. In this way, if you find you can't get a job in video game design when you graduate, you can go into this related field, gain experience, then try again. Because the thing is, video game design companies tend to only be in specific areas of the US - so you will either need to be willing to relocate, or to research *now* and find out if there are any game design companies in TX. In addition, a lot of the work has been outsourced to India, China, and ! the Ukraine, so you're up against that as well. That's why it's a good idea to major in something more general, like CS or SE (and they game design companies want this anyway), and to do internships that could allow you to enter another field if you can't get a job in game design....Show more

Lashawnda Anteby: Best Video Game Programming Schools

Carter Dewater: I agree DigiPen is the best from what I have heard. Actually, I believe it is located at Nintendo's headquarters in Washington. I hear it is a very rigorous curriculum.
